Passengers left bleeding as Jet flight crew forgot to maintain cabin pressure


A Jet Airways flight between Mumbai and Jaipur had to return to Mumbai this morning due to cabin pressure dropping that led to bleeding from nose and ear of passengers on the flight.
An official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that the Jet AirwaysNSE -4.22 % B737 aircraft operating flt 9W 697 of 20th Sep 2018 (Mumbai-Jaipur) had air turnback to Mumbai, as cabin pressure fell due to the fault of cockpit crew
Jet Airways has derostered pilots pending investigation.
“During climb, crew forgot to select bleed switch due to which cabin pressurisation could not be maintained. As a result, oxygen masks got deployed,” said the official.
The official added that as per initial information, few pax have nose bleeding.
“Out of 166 passengers on board, 30 have reported nose bleeding, few have ear bleeding and some are complaining of headache. All the affected passengers are being attended ..
Jet Airways said that they have taken the pilots off duty pending investigation.
“The flight’s cockpit crew has been taken off scheduled duties pending investigation. The airline is making alternative flight arrangements for guests on this flight,” the airline said in a statement.
According to the airline, the aircraft landed normally in Mumbai.
