A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Benjamin Imeogu, has been killed by some unknown gunmen in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).Punch reports that Imeogu, the chairman of APC panel on the conduct of National Assembly primaries in the FCT was shot five times on the chest at a close range along Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Road, Abuja, around 9.30 pm on Thursday, November 15.The victim was said to be in the company of his wife and three children when the incident occurred.
It was also gathered that the attackers injured Imeogu’s wife and one of his children as they received gunshots with bullets piercing their stomachs. However, the other two children escaped with minor injuries.
The politicians remains have been deposited at the National Hospital’s morgue, while his wife and son are battling for their lives at an undisclosed hospital. Although it cannot be readily ascertained whether the attack was connected to the Abuja Municipal Area Council elections which Imeogu participated as the chairman of the electoral committee, members of the Transforming Church, Galadimawa, Abuja, where he worshiped have been paying tributes to the late politician.Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson for the FCT police command DSP Anjuguri Manzah, promised to provide an update on the attack on Imeogu and his family.
