Candidacy: Ogbuoji wins Odoh in court, calls for party unity

The Ebonyi State APC gubernatorial candidate, Senator Sonni Ogbuoji has expressed his confidence in the judiciary over the verdict of the Federal High Court in Abakaliki, affirming his candidacy as the authentic gubernatorial flagbearer as contested by Prof. Bernard Odoh.

Justice Phoebe Msuan Ayua in her judgment Wednesday dismissed the suit of Prof. Odoh for lack of merit.

Odoh has gone to court to argue that the primary election that produced Ogbuoji as candidate was flawed and he should be declared the winner.

But after reviewing the case and submissions, the court held that the suit lacked merit as the plaintiff could not prove his allegation of malpractice at the primaries.

In reaction, Ogbuoji called on party members to unite to fight the common enemy of the state that has brought down every sector of the state to its knees. He reiterated that the fight is not amongst party members, rather against the Umahi fiefdom.

He stated that the victory will be complete when the state is liberated and the government given back to the people on March 9 at the gubernatorial election, against the way the government is run as David Umahi’s personal business.

The gubernatorial hopeful Ogbuoji charged the people to see to securing the future of the state, as a clarion call to every citizen of Ebonyi State, not minding political affiliation. r
