Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari has re-nominated the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele for another five years term, his second term in office.
Emefiele’s reappointment makes history as the first governor of the CBN to get a reappointment in 20 years.
The CBN chief was first appointed in 2014 by President Goodluck Jonathan, while Buhari retained him in the office even after so many changes to the economic programmes and team of the past president.
Presidency sources stated that a letter for the tenure renewal had been signed by Buhari on Wednesday and now before the Senate President in line with the CBN Act for his confirmation.
The letter of re-nomination was sent to the senate Thursday morning.
