NIPC ES/CEO gets NUJ award

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) have recognised and awarded the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) Ms Yewande Sadiku, “Distinguished Friend of the Media” for her friendly disposition and cordial working relationship with the media.

The ES/CEO while receiving the award at the “Press Freedom award 2019” in Abuja on Monday dedicated the award to the hardworking Management and Staff of the Commission. According to her, “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the hardworking Management and Staff of NIPC. I consider this constituent (NUJ) important stakeholders of the work that we do. As a public agency that represents the interest of investors and that speaks the language of government to investors and the language of investors to government, we can’t do this without letting the world know what we are doing on behalf of both parties.” The award was presented to her by the National President of the NUJ, Chris Ikechukwu.

The NIPC Chief Executive commended the media for highlighting the activities and initiatives of the Commission in a positive way to the investment public and assured of the Commission’s preparedness to continue to partner with the media. Some of the Commission’s initiatives include the iGuide Nigeria, Compendium of Investment Incentives in Nigeria, daily NIPC Intelligence e-newsletters and Report of Investment Announcements of which $US90.9 billion was recorded in 2018. Others are Investment Opportunities Profiling, Nigeria Investment Certification Programme for States (NICPS), a Country-Focused Investment Promotion Strategy, Pioneer Status Incentives (PSI) Reforms, International Investment Agreements/Bilateral Investment Treaties Reforms, the One Stop Investment Centre (OSIC) Lab and a revamped website.

Other recipients of the NUJ “Distinguished Friend of the Media” awards are Engr. Chidi Izuwah, Director General, Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Agency (ICRC) and Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, Executive Director, National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), amongst others.

The “Distinguished Friend” of Media award is being organised by the NUJ to celebrate and motivate journalists, promote press freedom and good governance. It is given to political and public office holders who have actively supported press freedom in Nigeria.
