Nigeria Governors’ Forum pledge collaboration with NIPC


The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has pledged to collaborate with the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) to strengthen investors’ engagements and to promote strategic insights into States’ competitiveness advantages, following a presentation by the Executive Secretary of NIPC, Ms Yewande Sadiku, at its maiden meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, 19th June 2019.

She shared details of the Commission’s efforts at promoting investments into the states, and the need for continued sub-national business environment reforms. The Commission sought support for the implementation of the Nigerian Investment Certification Programme for States (NICPS) across Nigeria, and partnership in documenting the competitive advantages and specific investment opportunities in each State for publication in a Book of States.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the NGF also resolved to set up a security committee at the National Economic Council level and retain security as a reoccurring item on its agenda for the foreseeable future, and to re-launch its flagship States Peer Review mechanism programme designed to assist States foster good governance and accelerate the rate of development through periodic reviews of progress made by States Governments.
