Police in Nigeria’s Delta region on Saturday confirmed four people were kidnapped by gunmen who attacked a local community.
The incident took place on Friday at the Boji-Boji Owa community in Ika, the northeast local government area of oil-rich state of Delta.
Onome Onovwakpoyeya, a spokesperson for the state police, said details about the attack were still sketchy as the police only got information about it early Saturday. An investigation is ongoing on the latest kidnapping.
A local source said the kidnappers shot sporadically upon their arrival at the Boji-Boji Owa community and forced their captives into the bush at gunpoint.
