A special Force of the Nigerian Army has eliminated a notorious militia leader, Terwase Akwaza, popularly known as Gana in Benue State.
The gang leader was declared wanted by the Nigeria Police for killing several innocent citizens including Governor Samuel Ortom’s Special Assistant on Special Security, Denen Igbana. The Benue State Government later placed a N10 million-naira bounty on him.
He was so notorious that he was behind murders of criminal gangs in Sankera geo – political zone comprising Ukum, Logo and Katsina Ala local government areas and the entire Zone A senatorial district.
An intelligence officer revealed that earlier on Tuesday September 8, 2020, before Gana met his tragic end, he was sighted in the Katsina-Ala township stadium in Benue North claiming that he wanted to surrender for an amnesty programme of the state government.
The militia leader had surrendered and handed over his cache of arms and ammunition to the Benue amnesty programme of Governor Samuel Ortom in 2015 when he was pardoned and later went back to his ways in crime.
