El-Rufai says he will implement S/Kaduna Peace Summit recommendations


Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has promised the implementation of all the recommendation made in the report of the Sothern Kaduna Peace Summit. He disclosed this recently while receiving the delegation from the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) and Kaduna State Traditional and  Community Leaders.

El-rufai commended the Chief Convener of the Peace Summit, Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam for his laudable contributions in the restoration of peace in Kaduna State.

He said: “I am happy to say today that Kaduna State is enjoying relative peace and Southern Kaduna is quiet and peaceful. He expressed his gratitude to the Executive Secretary and all the Community Leaders for their initiatives and efforts.

He explained that the State is gradually succeeding in restoring peace particularly in Southern Kaduna. He further appreciated the Executive Secretary and the Coordinators of the Southern Kaduna Peace Summit for bridging the gap between the government and the people of Southern Kaduna by proffering solutions to the crisis in the state.

He admonished people of the state  to come together to reflect and learn to live together, adding that the problem with violence is that it affects everybody and it destroys investments, jobs and livelihood.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam thanked the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-rufai for his approval of the Peace Summit  which held in the State in September.  The Theme of the Summit was: DE: ESCALATION OF THE KILLINGS IN SOUTHERN KADUNA AND WAY FORWARD. He said all relevant Stakeholders that were strategically selected were all in attendance during the Summit, and they discussed exhaustively on the way forward at the Intra and Inter levels leading to final resolutions.

Rev. Pam thanked the Stakeholders for their time and maximum cooperation during the Summit which according to him is an indication of the commitment to peace.

He intimated that as part of the way forward, a committee was constituted and inaugurated to follow up on the agreement reached at the mediation table and the report of the mediation is what he has come to hand over to the Governor of Kaduna State as promised.
