At least 50 civilians of Madjoari in eastern Burkina Faso were killed on Wednesday in an armed attack, the East Region governor Hubert Yameogo said in a statement on Thursday.
Residents from the Madjoari town who were trying to reach Nadiagou, in the town of Pama, were targeted on Wednesday by unidentified armed men, according to the statement.
On May 14, an attack on civilians in the same area left 17 dead and 7 injured. On May 19, another attack against the military detachment of Madjoari left 11 soldiers killed and 20 others injured, it said.
Yameogo offered condolences to the bereaved families, adding that security operations were underway.
