In 111 years, Wendy Rush, who is the wife of Stockton Rush, the CEO of OceanGate Expeditions, and pilot of the imploded sea exploration vessel has become the second-time victim of the vessel, Titanic.
Wendy’s husband, a British billionaire was the man piloting the submarine that has been lost at sea since Sunday and on Thursday confirmed a lost case.
The US Coastguard announced on Thursday that Oceangate, the exploration vessel’s debris was found by a search team and robots, leaving the impression that all five occupants, including a father and his 19 years old son are dead.
Titanic, the largest ocean vessel at the time it was built sank between April 14 and 15, 1912.
On board that vessel in 1912 was a couple – Isidor and Ida Straus, who was adjudged one of the wealthiest on board. They were the ones depicted in the 1997 epic movie – Titanic that lay in bed together and refused to leave each other until the vessel went under.
The Royal Mail Ship Titanic left Southampton on its maiden journey to New York but didn’t get to the destination as it broke in two after hitting a massive iceberg. The casualty list was 1,500 people, an alarming disaster at any point in history.
The Titan sub last Sunday embarked on a mission to explore the wreckage of the Titanic on the ocean floor, some two miles beneath the ocean surface.
Unfortunately, Mrs. Rush whose husband piloted the Titan submersible has lost her husband, just as she lost her great-great grandparents in the ill-fated Titanic sink 111 years earlier.
Wendy, born Wendy Hollings Weil, married OceanGate Expeditions CEO, Stockton, in 1986. She is the great-great-granddaughter of Isidor and Ida Straus, the couple who is known for their tragic love story aboard the 1912 passenger liner Titanic. Wendy is related to the pair through their daughter Minnie, who married Dr. Richard Weil in 1905.(per meaww.com)
