When Edward Young said that “Friendship is the wine of life”, he aptly captured a group of friends like the Class of 1984 of St Pius X Grammar School, (SPGS) Onicha Ugbo, Delta State that has in the past 40 years sipped from the sweet flavour of true friendship.
This year, members of the class are in joyful mood as they prepare to mark the 40th anniversary of their graduation from the alma mater.
According to Emeke Ikade, in a press statement, the President of Lagos branch of Class of 84 of SPGS Old Boys Association as well as Creative Strategy Leader, for the anniversary, the theme of this year’s convention is Forever Fortified.
It coincides with the 40th anniversary celebration which is billed to hold between 13th to 17th September, 2024, in Delta State.
The main highlights of the event include: the unveiling of the new residence built for the principal by the class, Book Launch of the Class of 84 Story titlied “Forty Years of Friendship & Generousity” authored by Sylvester Asoya, a member of the highly resourceful Class of 84, General election. Other activities also include the planting exercise of the Anniversary Tree, Thanksgiving Service, Annivessary Lecture and Award giving ceremony.
Confirming this in Lagos, the President General of Class of 84, Austin Omordi noted that this landmark event is designed to give thanks to God for His grace and benevolence as well as giving back to the school.
In the words of the Chairman of the Anniversary Committe, Maxwell Chiemeke: “we have every reason to thank God that fourty years after, we’re still here, forever fortified“.
According to Chiemeke, the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, is expected to grace the occasion. Other dignataries slated to be at the event include the President of the General Old Boys Assiociation, Barr. Edmund Zealiwe; Barr. Ken Mozia, SAN; traditional rulers and many others.
