The BritishBroadcasting Corporation (BBC) has denied ever retracting its news report on the Lekki toll plaza massacre of peaceful protesters by Nigerian soldiers on October 20, 2020.
There has been news on the social media that BBC retracted its report and apologized that it was false.
But the BBC pidgin English tweeted Sunday that the public should disregard the claimed retraction as it is fake and unfounded and therefore stands by its report of the incident.
“As disinformation by paid agents of the General Muhammadu Buhari regime, reaches unprecedented levels, the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC has had to denounce a propagated fake news by government agents, that it apologised for its reportage on the Lekki massacre,” a source reported.
On the twitter handle, @bbcnewspidgin, it noted that: “We don see dis tori dey fly upandan for WhatsApp and Facebook, dis na fake news. BBC stand by every report wey we do about wetin happun for Lekki toll gate as we bin dey dia wen di shooting start.
